The I-Search is a 4 phase process where students choose a question to answer then gather research and put together a report about their findings.
I-searches are a very constructivist approach to learning because students are deciding what they want to learn more about and they are constructing their own knowledge by searching for the answers themselves.
I searches are a great way to get students engaged in the learning process, as they are researching as aspect of the given topic they are particularly interested in. The students decide on their research methods and how they will present their findings.
I think this would be a good concept to incorporate into an art curriculum. the students could research an art technique or artist they would like to learn more about and then create a project to present to the class.
