Portfolio Articles

http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/tech/tech111.shtml

This article outlines the reasons to create an electronic portfolio, and showcases the ability to use a portfolio as an assessment tool.
The article also emphasizes that students of all ages can create an electronic portfolio. I particularly liked that they stressed the electronic portfolio is not a digital scrapbook, it is about the content not the design (Which is something I will have to watch out for).

This article was very informative. It demonstrates the two main purposes for creating an e-portfolio (reflection or showcase) and describes how to achieve a balance between the two.
Barrett uses flow charts and diagrams to illustrate the relationship between the information that is contained in an e-portfolio, and show how you can make creating the portfolio a reflective activity instead of just a showcase for your work.

This article lays out the step by step process of creating a portfolio (electronic or otherwise). It give information on how to select the materials you chosen to put into the portfolio and how you should categorize them. Most of the information had been covered by the other articles we read for class, although this article contained appendices with some useful tips and examples (Appendix A: Items That Might Be Included in a Teaching Portfolio
Appendix B: Sample Teaching Portfolio
Appendix C: Excerpts from a Teaching Portfolio
Appendix D: Sample Summary of Teaching Experience
Appendix E: Sample Teaching Philosophy Statement
Appendix F: Sample Teaching Philosophy Statement
Appendix G: Sample Activities to Improve Teaching)
